Social Media Model Arrested in E. Hawai‘i on Outstanding Warrant to be Extradited Back to Florida
A social media model arrested in Hakalau on an outstanding warrant out of Florida on murder charges will be extradited.
Twenty-six-year-old Courtney Clenney appeared in Hilo Circuit Court on Thursday afternoon. During the proceedings, she waived extradition and a status hearing was set for Sept. 12.
Hawai‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen said Clenney should be back in Florida before that hearing. She remains in custody and is being held on no-bail.
“Our Office has been in contact with the City of Miami Police Department and the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney to coordinate Clenney’s extradition,” Waltjen said.
Clenney was wanted on an outstanding warrant for second-degree murder in relation to an April 3, 2022, Miami incident. She is accused of killing her boyfriend.
On Wednesday morning, Clenney was arrested at a Hakalau residence through a collaborative effort between the U.S. Marshals and members of Hawai‘i Police Department’s Hilo Community Policing Section and Area I Criminal Investigation Section.
