A Kona roadway will need to be closed for part of next week for Hawaiian Electric crews to replace a utility pole.

Likana Lane in Kailua-Kona will be closed from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. July 18-20. The single-lane road will be closed between Ali‘i Drive and the entrance to the public parking lot. However, street parking along Likana Lane will be unavailable until the pole replacement is completed.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and parking. The parking lot can be accessed via Kuakini Highway. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians passing near the work area.

The pole is being replaced as part of routine maintenance to improve reliability of the Hawaiian Electric system. The work will involve removing the wooden pole and installing a new concrete pole.

It will not require a power outage.
