All Lanes of Old Mamalahoa Highway Near Umauma Now Open

Update: Big Island police reported at 5:34 p.m. Sunday that both lanes of Old Mamalahoa Highway between Kauniho Road and the 18-mile marker along Highway 19 near Umauma are now open.  Police thank the public for its patience and encourage motorists to drive carefully.

Original story: Big Island police are reporting that Old Mamalahoa Highway is closed between Kauniho Road and the 18-mile marker in Umauma because of a fallen tree and downed power lines.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
