A restriction at the East Hawaiʻi Regional Sort Station on the size of commercial waste loads will remain in place for about another year.

The county Department of Environmental Management announced that the haul size restriction of 5 cubic yards has been extended through June 30, 2023. Should circumstances change, the restriction could end earlier.

A 5-cubic-yard load will fit in a standard size pickup truck with an 8-foot bed filled to the top of the cab.
