A West Hawai’i beach club will close this week to accommodate for renovation plans.

The Lava Lava Beach Club in the Waikoloa resort area will be closed beginning Wednesday, June 8, for a complete make-over that will bring back a “toes in the sand” experience.

“My partner Eric and I have been talking about starting our renovation plans for a few years now,” Lava Lava Beach Club co-owner Scott Dodd said in a press release. “While the pandemic pause held us back, we are now ready to get started.“

Renovations will include adding seating, enlarging and reconfiguring the restaurant’s restrooms and enlarging the kitchen to include a cooking line, bakery and scullery. Parking also will expand to 149 stalls. And the La La Lawn will get its own mini beach bar and an expanded retail experience with a new beach vibe.

The first phase of renovations is expected to last until October, with the full project, which also includes a new administrative building, scheduled to be finished by the holidays.

“Many of our employees, including our executive chef, will use the construction time to reconnect and refresh, while some of our other employees may find temporary work before returning back to Lava Lava Beach Club,” Dodd said in the release.
