Weekly Road Closures: June 4-10
The state Department of Transportation issued its weekly road and lane closure list for June 4-10. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, June 10 in observance of King Kamehameha I Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.
— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —
1) HILO
Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 2.5 and 4, Kanoelehua Avenue and Lama Street, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder grading and stabilization work.
2) PĀHALA
Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 54 and 56, Ka‘alaiki Road and Nīnole Loop Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting and shoulder work.
3) CAPTAIN COOK
Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 108 and 109, in the vicinity of Nanaina Lani Place and Koa Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and sidearm mowing.
— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —
1) PAPAIKOU
Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 6.3, near Kapue Stream, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for sewer force main repair.
2) PAPAIKOU
Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 8, near intersection with Hanawi Street, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching, shoulder work and sidearm mowing.
3) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)
Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, June 4 through Friday, June 10, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.
4) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)
Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph.
— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD/ PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —
1) KEAAU
Single lane closure on Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Highway 130 intersection with Hawai‘i Belt Road and Kea‘au High School, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of traffic loop detectors.
2) PĀHOA
Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.
— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —
1) KAMUELA
Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.
2) KAMUELA
Right lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the southbound direction near mile marker 5.6, in the vicinity of Saddle Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction of a new access road.

Single lane closure on ‘Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 7, Kaewa Place and Ka‘ala Road, on Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder stabilization work.
