High Surf Advisory Issued for South-Facing Shores Statewide
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for south-facing shores for all islands from noon till 6 a.m. Sunday.
Surf along south-facing shores will build through the morning, then peak late this afternoon through Saturday as a long-period, south-southwest swell moves through. Areas impacted on the Big Island include leeward west Kona and southeast.
Surf is expected to be 7 to 10 feet. Impacts are anticipated to be moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
