Competition Seeks Young Women Filmmakers Interested in Climate Change, Coastal Resilience
Young women filmmakers in Hawai‘i with an interest in climate change and coastal resilience are invited to submit short films as part of a statewide contest.
Learning Endeavors, a nonprofit with a mission to inspire the next generation of leaders in Hawai‘i by developing and facilitating innovative education programs, is hosting its first annual Champions of Coastal Resilience Voices of Champions Short Film Competition for young women ages 12-21 years old.
According to a press release, the competition is a part of an initiative focused on developing climate stewards who care for coastal communities in anticipation of rising sea levels and other impacts to coastlines.
Entrants are divided into two age divisions, 12-16 years old and 16-21 years old, and have the choice to submit as individuals or groups. Winning filmmakers will receive cash prizes and other awards during a showcase and awards ceremony June 1.
First, second and third-place winners will be selected from each age division. All films must be submitted online by May 20.
