Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Nā‘ālehu late Monday night where two single-family homes were on fire.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze at 11:58 p.m. on the 95-1000 block of Ohai Road. When they arrived on scene, crews found two homes on fire — one fully engulfed and the other 75% involved in flames.

According to fire officials, the fire started at one of the homes and due to strong winds, flames spread to the house next door.

Firefighters stamped out the structure fires, one of which collapsed and the other is still standing. Crews also set up protection to surrounding homes which sustained minimal damage.

No injuries were sustained due to the fires and the cause is under investigation. Fire officials estimate the blaze resulted in $610,250 damage.
