Cessna Plane Crashes on Kaua‘i, Authorities Investigating
Authorities are investigating the crash of a Cessna 172 on Kaua‘i, the National Transportation Safety Board tweeted this morning.
NTSB reported that preliminary information indicated the single-engine aircraft crashed into mountainous terrain about 15 miles north of Kehaha on the northwest side of Kaua‘i around 3:45 p.m., Sunday.
The crash killed both people on board.

The plane was taking part in a Civil Air Patrol exercise. As of this morning, county officials announced the first Kalalau Lookout in Koke‘e was closed due to a multi-agency operation. Additionally, there is a “No Fly Zone” currently in place for the Kalalau and Koke‘e areas.
Officials say further details will be provided later today.
NTSB is investigating and said a preliminary report on the investigation will be available in about two weeks.
