Weekly Lane Closures: March 12-18

The state Department of Transportation announced its list of road and lane closures for the week of March 12-18. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 118 and 119, Kuakini Highway and Hawai‘i Belt Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, Volcano Road and Omeka Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

2) HŌNAUNAU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 86 and 87, Old Māmalahoa Highway and ‘Ohana Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, March 12 through Friday, March 18, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

2) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

3) HONOMŪ

Right lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) in the southbound direction near mile marker 15.4, Old Māmalahoa Highway, on Monday, March 14 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Hakalau Stream Bridge rehabilitation and testing.

4) NĪNOLE

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, Hanamalo Lane and Hawai‘i Belt Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Hawai‘i Belt Road and Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road, on Monday, March 14 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of new traffic signal indicators.

2) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, March 14 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, March 14 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KAMUELA TO HAWI

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) in both directions between mile markers 1 and 15, Kawaihae Road and Kapa‘a Park Road, on Tuesday, March 15 through Friday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
