A technical malfunction set off tsunami warning sirens in Hilo Saturday evening.
Emergency sirens sounded in error at approximately 8:45 p.m. Hawaiʻi County officials confirmed there is no emergency and the siren was a false alarm. Hawaiʻi State Emergency Management and Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency are investigating the cause of the false siren sounding.
