No Injuries in Holualoa House Fire Saturday

Two people were evacuated from their burning Holualoa home Saturday morning.

According to the Hawaii Fire Department, crews responded to the 7:37 a.m. call and found upon arrival one room inside a 900-square-foot, single-story home on One Road aflame. Two family members who were trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose were escorted to a neighbor’s house. The fire was put out at 8:20 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The home was insured and a loss estimate wasn’t provided.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to the single-family residential fire, which the organization stated impacted 10 people.

Red Cross disaster volunteers are meeting with affected residents to ensure their immediate emergency needs are met. Caseworkers will continue to follow up with anyone affected in the coming weeks to provide referrals, guidance or additional assistance as needed to help with the recovery process.

The Red Cross encourages all families to make a disaster plan to include an evacuation plan with two different routes of escape, a communications plan to help families reconnect after disaster and a disaster supplies kit that is readily available to aid in a quick evacuation.
