The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a winter weather advisory for Big Island summits on Tuesday afternoon. The advisory runs through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22.
Snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are expected, with a slight chance of freezing rain.
Travel could be very difficult and driving conditions will be hazardous.
A winter weather advisory means periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Motorists should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving in the effected areas.
A flood advisory for the Big Island was downgraded to a flood watch until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
