Preliminary Hearing Rescheduled for Honokaʻa Man Facing Stolen Firearm, Drug Charges

A preliminary hearing for a Honokaʻa man facing stolen firearm and felony drug charges was postponed.

Forty-year-old Kristoffer K.R. Rosborough had an initial appearance in the Hāmākua courtroom on Nov. 15 for charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Nov. 10. He then appeared via Zoom for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in front of Hilo District Court Judge Harry Freitas.

Rosborough, who is prohibited from owning firearms, is accused of stealing a Russian SKS model rifle. Charges include first-degree theft, place to keep unloaded firearm other than pistol or revolver, ownership or possession of firearm prohibited, prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia and two counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug after he was found with methamphetamine.

Rosborough waived his right to a preliminary hearing within two days of arrest and is ordered to appear for the hearing on Nov. 30.

Rosborough remains in custody at Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.
