Hawai‘i Island Police (HPD) are looking for three suspects in a crime that occurred earlier this week.

HPD has asked for public assistance to identify a vehicle and three male suspects involved in a robbery that occurred within the parking lot of a business in the 74-5000 block of Makala Blvd. in Kailua-Kona on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Shortly after 11 pm, a 19-year-old man reported that multiple unknown male suspect(s) removed his vehicle from the parking lot after a brief altercation. All three suspects are described as local males of unknown height and weight, two of them were wearing full face masks. One of the suspects followed victim’s stolen car as it left the scene. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light colored four-door sedan.

The victim’s vehicle was later recovered in Puna, police said. However, the investigation is still ongoing and police are searching for the suspect’s vehicle, as well as the three suspects themselves.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact Detective Sheldon Nakamoto, Area II Criminal Investigations Section, at (808) 326-4646 ext. 228, or via email at sheldon.nakamoto@hawaiicounty.gov.
