Governor Releases $3,900,000 for Capital Improvement Projects

The Governor recently released $3,900,000.00 in capital improvement project funding (CIP) to finance construction costs for improvements at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, Keāhole, Hawaiʻi. The CIP projects that received funding are as follows:

  • $650,000.00 to finance the construction costs for south ramp taxiway and ramp improvements at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole, Hawaiʻi.
  • $3,250,000.00 to finance construction costs for perimeter fence replacement at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole, Hawaiʻi.

“I’d like to thank Governor Ige for releasing funding to finance the construction costs for the south ramp taxiway and ramp improvements and to replace the perimeter fence at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport,” said Senator Lorraine Inouye (District 4 – Hilo, Hamakua, Kohala, Waimea, Waikoloa, Kona). “I also want to express my gratitude to Chauncey Wong-Yuen, DOT-A, Hawai’i Branch Manager, for his assistance in securing funding improvements for the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport. Improving Hawai‘i’s airports is crucial to the State’s efforts in improving our local economy.”
