Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Top 50K Statewide

The Hawaiʻi Department Health reports 791 new COVID-19 cases as of Saturday, Aug. 14, bringing the statewide total to 50,355. DOH reports 3,000 hospitalizations and one new COVID-related death.

A total of 134 new infections were identified on the Big Island Saturday.

The state’s two-week average jumped to 613 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 7.6%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

A total of 3,000 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 548 have died.

To date, a total of 1,797,402 doses of the vaccine have been administered statewide, with 61.2% of the population fully vaccinated and 68.9% having received at least one shot.
