Queen’s North Hawai´i Community Hospital Reinstates Visitor Ban

Queen’s North Hawai´i Community Hospital announced Wednesday, Aug. 4 that it had reinstated a no-visitor policy at its facility.

The decision was made in light of the recent coronavirus surge, which is shattering previous infection records from the first year and a half of the pandemic.

Limited exceptions will be made under certain circumstances, QNHCH said in a press release, such as pediatric or maternity patients and end-of-life care. In those situations, additional screening will be required.

Friends and family members of patients are asked to consider using technology to stay connected and offer support remotely. Free Wi-Fi is available to all patients, and phones are available in all patient rooms. Call the hospital operator at 808-885-4444 to be connected to a patient room.

The hospital said that visitation restrictions will be reevaluated on a daily basis and removed as soon as conditions allow.
