Brush Fire Closes Portion of Daniel K. Inouye Highway

A brush fire has shut down a portion of Daniel K Inouye Highway (Route 200) from mile marker 43 to the Route 190 intersection.

According to Hawaii Fire officials, the blaze is approximately 200 acres.

Kea Keolanui was passing by in her vehicle when she captured footage of smoke billowing toward the sky. The video shows a helicopter doing water drops on the blaze.

Authorities are advising motorists to use the Old Saddle Road as a detour. It is unknown at this time how long the closure may last.
