Big Island Road Closure

Damaged sewer lines have closed a portion of a major Big Island road.

The Hawai´i Police Department reports Highway 19 is currently closed in both directions so that crews can repair the lines between mile marker 6 and mile marker 7 near Papaikou. 

The Old Mamalahoa Highway is available as a detour.
