A high surf advisory for the Big Island has now been extended until 6 p.m. Thursday.
East- and North-facing shores could see eight to 12 feet in surf. Impacts are moderate.
Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents could make swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
