HPD Seeks Public’s Identifying Suspects in Fraud Case

Hawai‘i Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying two males who were recently caught on video surveillance making fraudulent charges on credit cards at a Hilo business.

The incident stems from an incident on March 11, 2021, near Onomea Bay in Pāpa‘ikou when South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a report of multiple vehicles broken into with several items removed from the vehicles.

The stolen items included backpacks, purses, wallets, personal identification cards, credit cards, a MacBook computer, an Apple iPhone, two Apple iPad’s, and various articles of clothing.

In the course of investigating the vehicle break-ins, it was discovered that purchases were charged to one of the stolen credit cards at a retail store in Hilo. Officers were able to obtain video surveillance footage of the two men who used the credit cards. They are described as being in their 20s with both men having brown hair and unknown height/weight. One of the men has a Mohawk-style haircut.
