Police Arrest 31 For DUI
Hawai‘i Island police arrested 31 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant over the previous week. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 259 DUI arrests compared with 238 during the same period last year, an increase of 8.8%.

There have been 151 major accidents so far this year compared with 206 during the same period last year, a decrease of 26.7%.
To date, there have been five fatal crashes resulting in five fatalities compared to six fatal crashes resulting in six fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 16.7% for fatal crashes, and 16.7% for fatalities.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
