The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the Big Island until 9:15 pm Sunday night.

At 6:16 pm, radar indicated heavy rain over the Waikoloa Village area of the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 3 inches per hour.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa Village, Pu´uanahulu, Kalaoa, Holualoa,
Honalo, Pōhakuloa Training Area, Waikoloa Beach, Mauna Lani and Kona International Airport.

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
