University of Hawaii at Hilo senior Jessica Pepin earned the Pitcher of the Week award from the PacWest Conference offices, recognizing her work during the tenth week of the season.

Pepin picked up two wins last week during conference action, including a shutout performance on April 6th at BYU-Hawaii, in which she allowed only three hits in a 14-0 win over BYU-Hawaii. The game only went five innings because of the sport’s mercy rule, and Pepin went all five of those innings.

The next day, she came on in relief of freshman Ashley Nelson, pitching five-and-a-third innings of relief to keep the Vulcans in the game. Pepin picked up the win as her team’s offense rallied back from a four-run deficit, and won the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. She allowed two unearned runs on the outing while picking up only one strikeout. She allowed six hits and one walk in her relief performance.

Entering Monday’s action, Pepin has a 5-6 record with a 2.56 ERA. Her 71 innings pitched is the second most on the team, behind fellow senior Amber Waracka.
