Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, 10:30 a.m.: Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Update
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports that as of 5 a.m., Hurricane Olivia is a Category 1 hurricane, 735 miles ENE of Hilo with sustained winds of 75 mph, moving west at 16 mph.
It is still too early to know what effects this hurricane will have on Hawai‘i Island.

There are no warnings or advisories in effect at this time.
Hawai‘i County will not be distributing sandbags until active flooding occurs.
Take the necessary precautions to prepare your property if you live in a flood-prone area, and secure your vessels in harbors.
