school supplies binIn keeping with its commitment to build a healthier Hawaiʻi Island community, Hawaiʻi Island United Way has created the Kākoʻo I Nā Keiki (Support the Children) Community Initiative.

Every day, dozens of Big Island School keiki go to class without slippers on their feet and without adequate school supplies.

This community initiative intends to stamp out the problem for our Hawaiʻi Island school keiki.

The goal of Kākoʻo I Nā Keiki is to address concerns brought to the organization by elementary school teachers and to help provide much-needed items to elementary school-age children in public schools who will otherwise go without.

Drop off school supplies at any Hawaiʻi Community Federal Credit Union Branch islandwide during July and August. Alternatively, donate online and school supplies most in demand will be purchased.

United Way Hawai‘i thanks its Kākoʻo I Nā Keiki sponsors—Hawaiʻi Community Federal Credit Union and Roberts Hawaiʻi, which will assist in distributing school supplies islandwide.
