Flags to Fly at Half-Staff for Fallen HPD Officer

Gov. David Ige has ordered that the US and Hawai‘i state flags be flown at half-staff at the Hawai‘i State Capitol and upon all state offices and agencies as well as the Hawai‘i National Guard in the State of Hawai‘i, until sunset on Friday, July 20, 2018, to honor Hawaiʻi Police Department Officer Bronson K. Kaliloa, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on July 17.

“Our entire state mourns the loss of Officer Kaliloa, a man who dedicated his life to his family and his community,” Gov. Ige said. “He sacrificed all to protect the community he loved. Dawn and I send our deepest condolences to his ‘ohana.”

The governor has also ordered that the flags be lowered on the day of Officer Kaliloa’s memorial service. Another flag notice will be issued when memorial plans are finalized.
