At 7:47 a.m. HST on Thursday, March 8, 2018, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports a 7.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Papua, New Guinea.
Based on all available data, a Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, and there is no tsunami threat to Hawai‘i.
