The Maunakea Speaker Series continues its monthly lectures with a presentation by Mark Chun from the University of Hawai‘i Institute for Astronomy on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center’s Moanahoku Hall. This free lecture is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.

Chun’s evening presentation will include:

  • How these qualities compare to astronomical telescope sites across the globe
  • How Maunakea’s uniqueness translates into new discoveries

Chun is an astronomer specializing in the field of adaptive optics – a technique to undo the blurring effects of the Earth’s atmosphere. He has spent more than 20 years designing and building instruments for ground-based telescopes around the world.
