Learn the Basics of Improv at Kahilu Theatre on Jan. 20
Kahilu Theatre will host three improvisational workshops by Peyton Wilson, a seasoned teacher and stage performer at world-class improv centers including Chicago’s Second City.
Three workshop sessions for all ages will be held in Kahilu Theatre’s Mike Luce Studio on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018: 9 a.m. for teens ages 13 to 18; 11 a.m. for adults 18 and older; and 1 p.m. for seniors ages 55 and older. The tuition fee to attend is $20.
Wilson creates a safes atmosphere to learn the concept of “yes, and” through group games to help participants be more present on stage and everyday life. Students will work together to develop confidence, build observational proficiencies, define voices and hone vital communication skills for the stage and life, while sharpening listening and reaction skills. No prior experience is necessary—students are only asked to show up and have fun.
Wilson is an actress, director, acting coach, and educator based out of Chicago—the hometown of improvisation. She has been on faculty at the renowned Second City training center for over 15 years where she offers acting, physical theatre, storytelling, auditioning techniques, and improvisation classes to all ages.
