Small Craft Advisory Issued Through Friday

The National Weather Service Honolulu issued an urgent marine weather message at 3:37 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29.

The advisory includes leeward and southeast waters of the Big Island, Ma‘alaea Bay on Maui, Pailolo Channel and Alenuihaha Channel.

Winds are expected from the east at 20 to 25 knots. Seas are expected to reach 6 to 8 feet.

A Small Craft Advisory means that winds speeds of 25 to 33 knots and/or seas 10 feet or greater are expected to produce conditions
hazardous to small craft.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these
conditions.
