Hawaiʻi-based apparel company Reyn Spooner, known for its reverse-print shirt designs, has released a limited edition aloha shirt to benefit Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park (HVNP). A portion of sales will go towards the park.
The Volcano Park design was created by artist Dietrich Varez. Varez, who lived and worked in HVNP during the 1970s, is known for his depictions of Hawaiian culture and legends through block prints. His Volcano Park design features lava eruptions, lehua flowers, i’iwi birds, nene goose, steam vents, ferns and more.
“We are grateful for Dietrich’s art and Reyn Spooner’s generosity,” said Cindy Orlando, Hawai’i Volcanoes Park superintendent. “This partnership will help support our efforts to preserve and share Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park with visitors around the world.”

“Volcano Park celebrates a part of Hawaiian Culture and History that has been well preserved for over 100 years,” said Lei Rowan, Reyn Spooner marketing director. “Having the artwork designed by Big Island artist Dietrich Varez was also a natural fit. Dietrich’s love and dedication to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park over the years can be seen in every piece of this print. From the details of each lehua blossom to the ‘i’iwi birds search of nectar to the iconic volcanic eruptions.”
The new shirts are available at Reyn Spooner stores and online at reynspooner.com for $108 each. They are featured in both classic fit men’s pullover and button-down styles, and made with reverse print Spooner Kloth fabric.
