Kīlauea Volcano Overflight: Huge Lava Outbreak Above Pali
Activity continued as usual on Kīlauea’s 61g flow extending from the Pu‘u ʻŌʻō vent to the ocean entry at Kamokuna on Thursday, Sept.7, 2017.
“The highlight this morning was a huge tumulus lava outbreak just above the Pali that are sending two steams of lava rolling down a 30-foot cone,” said Tropical Visions Video photographer and videographer Mick Kalber about last week’s Paradise Helicopters’ early morning overflight of Kīlauea Volcano and the surrounding area.
“We spent so much time shooting this spectacular outbreak, we were never able to investigate either the coastal flats or the ocean entry,” added Kalber. “What a flow!”
