The Big Island Sports Academy will host a youth basketball clinic for youth in grades 4 through 6 on Sept. 16, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Panaewa Park Gymnasium in Hilo. This full day clinic is designed for both boys and girls looking to improve their basketball skills by focusing on the fundamentals of the game.

The clinic is being led by John Livsey, who brings over 20 years of experience with a background in camp and clinic leadership. Coach John is a graduate of Arizona State University and holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He has coached at all levels, including 15 years at the high school and junior college level, in both Arizona and Wisconsin.

“I am really pleased to have this opportunity provided by the Big Island Sports Academy to continue to help the young kids on the Big Island, there is tremendous interest and history in basketball in our communities, said Coach Livsey. “ The past several years I have served as a referee for the high school and youth league games. I have observed firsthand the enthusiasm of our keiki and want to do what I can to nurture this kind of love for the game.”
