No Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i After 6.9 Alaska Quake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports that a 6.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Near Islands in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska.
Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawai‘i.

The USGS reports that the quake’s depth was 4 km and was centered:
- 113.6 mi WNW of Attu, Alaska
- 435.1 mi ESE of Klyuchi, Russia
- 508.1 mi E of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia
