Looking Ahead
South Big Island may have some lingering showers and clouds into Wednesday. Trade winds are forecast to weaken and veer out of the south ahead of a front. This means humid conditions, hazy skies and the possibility of spotty heavy showers in the afternoons. The front is forecast to reach Kauai on Thursday and stall over the smaller islands on Friday and Saturday as trade winds rebuild.
Today
We expect southeast winds today from 10 to 15 mph. High temperatures are forecast from 83° to 88° but feeling warmer due to the high heat index. Partly cloudy with scattered showers for Puna and Kau districts. Elsewhere, mostly sunny mornings, partly cloudy afternoons with isolated showers.
UV index at 12 (“extreme” exposure level)
Tonight
Southwest winds are forecast around 10 to 15 mph. Partly cloudy skies with clearing overnight. Low temperatures from 69° to 74°.
