Kennedy was the widow of Charles Clark Kennedy, manager of Waiākea Sugar Mill. She was devoted to the beautification of her beloved Hilo. As a member of The Park Commission, she was the inspiration for and moving factor in the production of Lili‘uokalani Gardens. She continued to support the gardens and the larger Hilo community throughout her life.
