The Authors of Hawaiʻi’s Kolea, the Amazing Transpacific Life of the Pacific Golden-Plover will discuss their extensive knowledge of their bird during a free presentation at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus on Thursday, March 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Susan Scott and Oscar “Wally” Johnson co-authored the text, featuring photographs and illustrations by Johnson. Scott has written a weekly column on ocean life for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that often references the Kolea while generating significant interest. Johnson is described as a world expert on Pacific Golden-Plovers and has studied them since 1979.

Their presentation is part of a monthly Thursday night series at the VAC focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and the environment. The VAC hopes to inspire and enhance a community appreciation for art and life experience, while fostering new connections. The event is free of charge, and donations are welcome to support future events.
