No Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i From 6.7 Quake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports that there is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake (preliminary measurement) occurred at 1:04 p.m. HST on Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Solomon Islands region.

The PTWC says that based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi.

• 44 miles W of Kirakira, Solomon Islands
• 110 miles SE of Honiara, Solomon Islands
• 483 miles SE of Arawa, Papua New Guinea
• 532 miles NW of Luganville, Vanuatu
• 693 miles NW of Port-Vila, Vanuatu
