Banyan Drive Art Stroll Announces Winners

Banyan Drive Art Stroll’s People’s Choice ballots have been counted.

Winners are Ailana DeHavilland for Aloha ‘Oe, Kornelius Schorle for Autumn Colors in Hilo, Mary Goodrich for Moon Bridge, and Vivian Ursula Bratton for Beneath Sunset Lights.

“More than 70 works of art were entered in a competition with juror Dick Nelson,” said Jelena Clay, one of the Banyan Drive Art Stroll organizers. “The theme was ‘Celebrate Lili‘uokalani: the Queen and her Legacy’.”

“Nearly 430 people visited the exhibit in the Grand Naniloa Hotel,” said organizer Ken Goodrich. “Of the 328 ballots cast, Aloha ‘Oe was the overwhelming choice.”

“There was a crowd gathered around this piece all day,” said Banyan Drive Art Stroll organizer Bonnie Sol.

Winners will receive gift certificates from Akamai Art Supply and Cunningham Gallery.

This was the first of a series of events to celebrate the centennial of Lili‘uokalani Gardens.

The event was held Saturday, Jan. 14, sponsored by Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens, Banyan Gallery, Paradise Helicopters, Akamai Art Supply, Cunningham Gallery, Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Grand Naniloa Hotel and Suisan Fish Market.
