Lili‘uokalani Gardens Seeking Volunteers
The next volunteer work day at Lili‘uokalani Gardens is Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. until noon.
Kenji Kuroshima of Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens will lead efforts to complete the year-long bamboo thinning project.
In addition, there are flats of mondo grass to replant in bare spots around Shoroan, the Urasenke tea house.
A few mock orange bushes also need replacement.
Volunteers are asked to wear close-toed shoes and garden gloves. Refreshments will be provided.
Next month’s workday is scheduled for Friday, July 1, from 8 a.m. until noon and will focus on helping park personnel prepare for the July 4 holiday weekend use of the area.
For additional information or to make arrangements for you or your organization to volunteer, contact K.T. Cannon-Eger at (808) 895-8130.
