Imported Dengue Case Confirmed on the Big Island
A new case of dengue fever has been confirmed on the Big Island.
The case is believed to be imported and not part of the dengue fever outbreak on the island that broke out last year.
Hawai’i County Civil Defense officials say that vector control crews have treated the infected individuals’s residence and properties in the area.
The individual reportedly remains infectious and the public is urged to continue to “Fight the Bite,” according to county officials.
Civil Defense says there is no evidence that indicates the case was a result of a local transmission.
No cases in connection with local transmission have been reported since March.
