No Tsunami Threat Following 7.7M Earthquake Off Ecuador Coast

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has upgraded the magnitude of Saturday afternoon’s earthquake off of the coast of Ecuador from a 7.4 to a 7.7.

PTWC maintains that there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Ecuador.

According to PTWC, the earthquake occurred Saturday at 1:59 p.m. Hawai’i time.

United States Geological Survey officials say the earthquake was located 8.7 miles north-northwest of Pedernales, Ecuador; 27.3 miles south of Muisne, Ecuador; 44.7 miles west-northwest of Rose Zarate, Ecuador; 57.8 miles south-southwest of Propicia, Ecuador; and 112.5 miles west-northwest of Quito, Ecuador.
