Wind Advisory Continues for Parts of Island

A Wind Advisory is posted for the north and east portions of the Big Island, including Hilo, Honoka’a, Volcano, Waimea and Waikoloa. The advisory is posted through 6 p.m. Thursday for winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all Big Island waters through 6 p.m. Thursday.
A High Surf Advisory is posted for the east side of the Big Island through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Looking Ahead
Breezy trade winds will continue through Thursday, gradually diminish Friday, with winds becoming light and variable on Saturday. The trade winds will bring passing showers to windward and mauka spots. We could potentially see a period of gusty winds and increased showers as a front moves down the island chain on Sunday. Light north winds are expected to bring cooler and drier weather early next week.

Today we expect mostly cloudy skies. Showers are likely for windward spots in the morning with scattered showers for the afternoon. Sunny skies for the Kona side with clouds building and isolated showers in the afternoon. Breezy winds are out of the northeast from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. High temperatures from 78° to 84°.

Northeast winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph tonight. Low temperatures from 65° to 71° with mostly cloudy skies and showers likely for windward areas.
