Regional Recognition for UH-Hilo’s Kurokawa

The awards continue to roll in for University of Hawai’i at Hilo senior right-handed pitcher Jordan Kurokawa.

Thanks to his sterling complete game, two-hit shutout against the University of Hawai’i on Saturday, Kurokawa was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s West Region Pitcher of the Week.

Kurokawa struck out seven Rainbow Warrior hitters and walked two. He only allowed hits in the third inning, and finished the game by retiring 10 straight batters.

Despite earning the regional honor, Kurokawa fell short of being named the Division II National Pitcher of the Week. That award went to West Texas A&M’s Brooks Trujillo.

Dixie State’s Drew McLaughlin was named the West Region Player of the Week, and Brett Wilhelm earned the NCBWA’s National Division II Player of the Week.
