Dry weather conditions and repair work to well sources in the South Kohala and Hamakua areas have brought the continuation of a water conservation notice.
The Department of Water Supply says the conservation request continues as the National Weather Service continues to forecast for a dry season.
Residents from Waimea Town to Kawaihae, as well as Pohakea Mauka, Kalopa Mauka, Pa’auilo Mauka, Old Ahualoa Road, and Kukuihaele in the South Kohala and Hamakua areas are being asked to voluntarily reduce water use.

DWS lists the following ways to reduce 10 percent of water use:
Wash only full loads of laundry or dishes at a time
Check faucets and pipes for leaks
Keep a container of drinking water in the refrigerator
Do not let water run when you wash, shave, or brush your teeth
Reduce showering times
Use water-saving devices
Use a broom instead of a water hose for cleaning
Irrigate at night and with a buck for small jobs
Use drinking water wisely
Agricultural users are asked to keep water usage to a minimum and irrigate only when necessary. Irrigation should take place during non-peak hours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Should the dry weather condition continue, a water restriction notice could follow.
