Gusty Conditions Continue for Big Island Today

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Big Island waters through 6 p.m. Friday. East winds are expected up to 30 knots and seas up to 11 feet. A Gale Warning is posted as well for winds up to 35 knots and seas up to 13 feet.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa through 6 a.m. Thursday for east winds from 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

Looking Ahead
Breezy trade winds will build even more through Friday, and then remain strong into next week. Clouds and showers are expected to be light and limited mainly to windward slopes, though some will drift leeward at times on the strong winds. Shower activity will increase again by late in the weekend.

Partly sunny skies are expected for windward areas with showers likely in the morning and scattered showers in the afternoon. Partly sunny skies for the Kona side with areas of haze and isolated showers in the afternoon as cloud cover builds. Northeast winds from 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts. High temperatures from 80° to 85°.

Northeast winds are expected from 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts. Low temperatures from 68° to 73°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected with showers likely in windward spots and clearing overnight for the leeward side.
