Gabbard Seeks Students for Kaha Ki’i Competition
Student artists are being sought by Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to submit artwork for the 2016 Kaha Ki’i Congressional Art Competition, hosted by the United States House of Representatives.
High school students in the 2nd Congressional District, which covers all of the neighbor islands and portions of Oahu, are invited to submit artwork by the Feb. 23 deadline.
“Hawaiʻi art students, with the support and mentorship of their teachers, continue to surpass my expectations year after year with their creative, beautiful, and thoughtful artwork,” said Congresswoman Gabbard. “I’m looking forward to seeing the submissions to our annual competition in 2016.
“The nationwide competition is a great platform for Hawaiʻi students to showcase the unique culture of our islands and communities from their perspective. The winning pieces will be on display for one year at the U.S. Capitol and in my Washington and Hawaiʻi offices for visitors to enjoy.”
Semifinalists will be announced soon after the February deadline.
Winning pieces will be unveiled at an award ceremony in April at the Hawai’i State Capitol.
